BCB HP Unit start well in lone three-dayer
Riding on Irfan Sukkur’s unbeaten century, the BCB High Performance Unit ended day one of their lone three-day game against Northern Territory Invitational XI on the driving seat. At stumps on day one on Thursday, BCB HP declared their innings with 312 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets in 90 overs at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin. Batting first, the visiting side were denied a smooth start as Liton Das departed after scoring only 13. The tourist lost two more quick wickets with Anamul Haque and Nazmul Hossain Shanto making just 19 and 13 respectively.

In the face of the debacle, Mehedi Maruf held his ground and ensured there would be no more hiccups, at least from his end, as he posted 87. Maruf’s 138-ball innings included half a dozen boundaries and two over-boundaries. Maruf’s effort was well complemented by Irfan, who remained undefeated till stumps adding 104 to the tally. The left-hander faced 139 deliveries, slamming 15 boundaries. Tanbir Hayder was not out on 17 at the other end. BRIEF SCORE BCB HP Unit 312/6d (Irfan 104*, Maruf 87)
