Gazi eager to continue unbeaten run in DPL
The in-form Gazi Group Cricketers will look to continue their unbeaten run in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2016-17 season when they take on Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Monday. Gazi's national discards in the form of Jahurul Islam, Anamul Haque and Mominul Haque are in terrific form with the bat, alongside Indian recruit Parvez Rasool. Gazi's left-arm seamer Abu Haider Rony meanwhile, is among the wickets. He has already picked up 18 wickets in eight matches and will once again play a vital role with the ball on Monday. In contrast, Khelaghar have been the surprise package in the Dhaka league this season, winning thrice in eight attempts. They will be eyeing an upset win against the table-topper but for that to happen, opening batsman Robiul Islam has to shine bright yet again. Robiul has struck back to back centuries for his side and finds himself among the highest run-scorers in the tournament. Away at the BKSP 4 ground, third-placed Prime Bank Cricket Club will lock horns with Brothers Union. Prime have won six out of eight games and will be desperate to narrow the gap with holder Abahani Limited, who have won seven out of nine matches and are second in the 12-team points table. In the other game of the day at the BKSP 3 ground, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who have won five out of eight games, will face a struggling Kalabagan Krira Chakra, who have managed to win just once in eight attempts.
