Gazi Group continue unbeaten run
Table-topper Gazi Group Cricketers on Tuesday continued their unbeaten run, clinching their eighth win in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2016-17 season, against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 24 runs, in accordance with the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. In the other matches which were also decided by the DLS system, Prime Bank Cricket Club defeated Partex Sporting Club by 37 runs while Brothers Union beat Kalabagan Krira Chakra by 17 runs. Gazi v Sk Jamal, BKSP 4 Batting first, Sheikh Jamal posted a challenging total of 232 for the loss of nine wickets in 43 overs with Tanbir Hayder top-scoring with 57 off 54 balls with five fours and a six and Fazle Mahmud adding 38. Abu Haider and Mahedi Hasan took two wickets each for the bowling side. In reply, Gazi scored 114/2 in 20.5 overs when rain halted play. Gazi eventually won the rain-affected tie with Jahurul Islam remaining unbeaten on 49 off 56 balls, featuring four boundaries while Mominul Haque scored 46 off 45 deliveries with the help of seven fours. This was Sheikh Jamal's third loss in eight attempts. Prime v Partex, Fatullah Taking first guard, Partex were all out for 192 in 46.2 overs, thanks to Jony Talukdar's 69. Jatin Saxena chipped in with 40. Nazmul Hossain picked up three wickets while Asif Ahmed took two for Prime. With six wins from eight games, Prime are third with 12 points while Partex are second from bottom with two points from the same number of matches. Brothers v Kalabagan, BKSP 3 Kalabagan were bundled out for 171 in 42.2 overs after batting first. Muktar Ali and Mehrab Hossain's identical 28s turned out to be the highest score. Manvinder Bisla picked up 3/23 while Nihaduzzaman bagged two for the bowling side. Brothers scored 82/1 in 22.2 overs in reply when rain caused havoc. Brothers won in accordance with the DLS method. Junaid Siddique remained not out on 38 while Bisla was not out on 31 to give their side their third win. In contrast, Kalabagan are struggling at third from bottom with one win from eight encounters.
