Al Amin Hossain’s five-wicket haul enabled Prime Bank Cricket Club to remain at the top of the points table following their fifth win in as many rounds in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League season 2016-17. Prime on Saturday defeated Legends of Rupganj by 66 runs, riding on Al Amin's heroics and Rafatullah Mohmand's hundred. In the other matches of the fifth round, joint table-topper Gazi Group Cricketers defeated Abahani Limited by 25 runs while Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club edged Kalabagan Krira Chakra by one run in a nail-biting affair. Doleshwar v Kalabagan, Fatullah Going into the last over of the chase, Kalabagan needed four runs with one wicket in hand. Nabil Samad, on strike, attempted a single off the second delivery of the over, bowled by Farhad Reza, only to see his partner, Nahid Hasan, get run out. In the process, Kalabagan agonisingly fell short by one run with four deliveries to spare. Earlier, Doleshwar were never comfortable, managing 202 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. Doleshwar's Shahriar Nafees top-scored with a patient 93-ball 39. Sanjit Saha picked up four wickets for Kalabagan. Chasing the target, Kalabagan got off to a steady start with their openers putting on 62 runs in 18 overs. Tasamul Haque was dismissed for 89 with half a dozen boundaries and two sixes. However, a late order debacle where six batsmen failed to reach double figures saw Kalabagan eventually fall short. Farhad and Sharifullah bagged three wickets each for Doleshwar. Later, a collective effort by the Gazi bowlers restricted Abahani to 257 in 48.1 overs. Anamul faced 109 deliveries for his 97, featuring seven boundaries and three over boundaries, while Rasool struck 91 off 80 deliveries with the help of five fours and three sixes. Mohammad Saifuddin and Gazi Anik notched three wickets each for Abahani. In reply, Afif Hossain was unbeaten on 76 but he ran out of partners at the other end as Abahani failed to chase down their target. Afif in his 80-ball innings smashed seven boundaries and a sixer. Alauddin Babu was the most successful Gazi bowler with three scalps. Prime v Rupganj, BKSP 4 Al Amin registered his maiden five-for this season to boost Prime's title prospects. Thanks to Rafatullah's 128 off 125 balls, composed with 10 boundaries and six sixes, Prime scored 284 losing six wickets in 50 overs. Mohammad Sharif took three wickets for Rupganj. Defending the target, Prime's bowling attack made sure Rupganj would be unable to build partnerships. Rupganj's chase eventually ended on 218 in 49.2 overs. Naeem Islam top-scored with 95 for Rupganj.
