National discard Mominul Haque on Wednesday smashed a blistering hundred to guide Gazi Group Cricketers to their fourth consecutive win in the DPL 2016-17 season. This time around, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club were on the receiving end of a 35-run defeat.
In the other matches of the day, holder Dhaka Abahani Limited suffered their first defeat this season, against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by six wickets, while Legends of Rupganj clinched a three-wicket win over Kalabagan Krira Chakra.
Gazi v Doleshwar, BKSP 3
Mominul struck a tornado 152 off just 120 balls, featuring 16 fours and half a dozen sixes, after Gazi were asked to bat first.
Gazi however, started poorly as they lost both the opening batsmen Anamul Haque (three) and Jahurul Islam (two) cheaply. But Mominul, along with captain Nasir Hossain, added 153 runs for the third wicket to rescue their side with the latter scoring 64. Indian recruit Parvez Rasool chipped in with 53 to steer Gazi to 307 all out in 48.2 overs.
Seamer Farhad Reza picked up four wickets while medium pacer Delwar Hossain took three for the bowling side.
In reply, Doleshwar were unable to put up any big partnership and eventually ended their chase on 272/9 after 50 overs. Afghanistan cricketer Samiullah Shenwari and wicketkeeper-batsman Jaker Ali bagged fifties.
Nasir registered an all-round performance, picking up three wickets, while seamer Shafiul Islam took two for table-topper Gazi.
Abahani v Sk Jamal, Fatullah
Abahani were dismissed for 269 in 50 overs after electing to take first guard. Skipper Mahmudullah and opener Liton Kumar Das scored identical 62s but a lack of contributions from the other batsmen meant Abahani were unable to post a big total.
Leg-spinner Tanbir Hayder notched four wickets while left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak and pacer Shahadat Hossain took two each for Sheikh Jamal.
Sheikh Jamal chased down the target with two overs to spare after a collective approach from the batsmen. Hard-hitting all-rounder Ziaur Rahman blasted a quickfire 73 off just 57 deliveries; his innings composed with three boundaries and six over-boundaries. Opener Fazle Mahmud made 63 before retiring hurt while Indian batsman Prashant Chopra added 57 as Sheikh Jamal recorded their third.

Rupganj v Kalabagan, BKSP 4
Rupganj claimed their third victory while Kalabagan tasted their third loss this year. In a 27-over per side game that was curtailed due to heavy rainfall overnight, Kalabagan made 176/8 after being invited to bat first. Opener Mehrab Hossain Jr top-scored with an unbeaten 81-ball 79 with five fours and a six.
Pacer Mohammad Sharif, left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain and seamer Mashrafe bin Mortaza took two wickets each for the bowling side.
In pursuit of 177, Rupganj reached their destination with two balls in hand. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim was the highest scorer with 44 while English cricketer Ashar Zaidi and Mashrafe added 37 and 23 respectively.
