The selectors will keep a close eye on the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2017 season. However, it was also learned that there will not be much changes in the squad.
According to sources, the team management is likely to add two or three more cricketers for the Ireland tour.
Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu, who went to watch a DPL game on Wednesday, informed that they are looking for an experienced batsman.
“We have two series in a row and there is a possibility of injury. And more importantly, there will be some ups and downs in the performance of the players. We are keeping a close eye on the Dhaka league as we are looking for an experienced batsman. We want a bit of experience in those conditions,” Minhajul told the media at BKSP.
“On the other hand, it’s difficult for the youngsters to adapt to the conditions instantly. We are also willing to take one pacer and a batsman as back-up,” he said.
The Tigers team management had picked five pacers in the recently concluded tour of Sri Lanka. It was learned that the number of pacemen in the squad might increase to six.
Mashrafe bin Mortaza and his troop will play the first match of their Ireland tour on May 12. Bangladesh will then undergo a 10-day training camp in Sussex. They will depart for the UK on May 26.
