It has been a busy time for the Tigers in the longer format of the game in 2017 as Bangladesh will tour Sri Lanka to take part in two Tests, followed by three ODIs and two-match T20I series from next month.
The selectors have already announced the Tigers’ Test squad where they picked up five pacers with Mustafizur Rahman making his comeback after missing out the one-off Test against India.
Another paceman Taskin Ahmed, who made his Test debut against New Zealand earlier this year, is looking forward to contribute with the ball and clinch a Test win for the country.
The 21 year old, played 23 ODI and picked up 35 wickets, is not satisfied with his performance in the longest format of the game where Bangladesh lose all the three Tests he took part so far.
“Personally I am not happy with my performance in Test cricket so far and disappointingly we have lost all the three matches that I have played for my country. Hopefully I can put up a better show in future and I am looking forward to the upcoming Sri Lanka series,” said Taskin to the media at the Sher-e-bangla National stadium yesterday.
Meanwhile Taskin also informed that there is a sporting competition among the other four fast bowlers in the likes of Rubel Hossain, Shubashis Roy, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Mustafiz in the side.
“There will be a healthy competition and I think more competition is good for the fast bowling department of the Bangladesh team. I am not thinking who will be in the playing eleven as I am preparing myself to give the best whenever I get the opportunity,” he said.
The cricketers will start training from Thursday before departing for Sri Lanka on February 27 where Mushfiqur Rahim and his troop will take on the hosts in the first of the two-match Test series starting from March 7.
