Dhaka Dynamites defeated Khulna Titans by 54 runs in Mirpur’s Sher-e Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday to reach the final of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20's fourth edition. Khulna will now face Rajshahi Kings in the second qualifier on Wednesday at the same venue to decide who the other finalist.
Chasing Dhaka’s 140/8, Khulna opening batsmen Andre Fletcher and Hasanuzzaman made a steady start. Khulna were 34 for no loss at one stage.
But Khulna could not capitalise on the good start and lost wickets at regular intervals. Fletcher was the first batsman to be dismissed by Shakib al Hasan in the sixth over.
However, two decisions then went against Khulna. Opener Hasanuzzaman was adjudged leg before wicket in the seventh over but TV replays showed the ball would have clearly missed the leg stump.
Benny Howell was also unfortunate to be adjudged LBW in the eight over as well as replays showed that he had a big inside edge but the umpire clearly thought otherwise.
Eventually, Khulna were all out for 86 runs in 16.2 overs with only Fletcher and Ariful Haque reaching double figures.
Andre Russell took three wickets conceding only 16 runs while Dwayne Bravo also bagged three giving away just 10 runs.

Earlier, Khulna skipper Mahmudullah won the toss and elected to field first.
Dhaka made three changes from their last match with opener Evin Lewis coming back to the team instead of Ronsford Beaton, Russell replacing Seekkuge Prasanna and Ravi Bopara making way for Bravo.
Khulna initiated the breakthrough in the second over when Mehedi Maruf got out off Junaid Khan’s bowling.
No 3 batsman Kumar Sangakkara hit a couple of boundaries but got out cheaply against Junaid.
Junaid also got the wicket of the other opener Lewis in the fourth over when he was caught by wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran.
Part-time leg-spinner Fletcher then took two important wickets in the middle period of the innings. First he dismissed Nasir Hossain before accounting for the wicket of captain Shakib al Hasan.
Player of the match Russell and Bravo formed a vital 49-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Russell scored 46 from just 25 deliveries while Bravo scored 23.
Dhaka eventually ended their innings on 140 from their allotted 20 overs.
Khulna pacer Junaid picked up four wickets conceding 24 runs while Fletcher took two for 22 runs.
