The last few days have been tough for Comilla Victorians as the defending champions are still in search of their first win in the ongoing fourth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20, having lost all their four matches so far.
Mashrafe bin Mortaza and his troop were nowhere near competitive enough in their four matches and were totally outplayed by the opponents.
However, according to skipper Mashrafe, one win will change it all and help them to gain momentum with the tournament reaching its business stages.
“I always think that you have to enjoy T20 cricket as this format is like this. Obviously when the team loses and the players are unable to perform, it will feel bad. But when you enjoy the game, it's easier to overcome such situations. It’s difficult to judge the batsmen or even the bowlers as everyone goes hard at them,” Mashrafe told the media in the port city on Thursday.
“But if we can win a game, then I think things will start to change. At this moment, we need a win, which will make our life easier. At the moment though, it is looking difficult,” he said.
Comilla have been struggling with the bat as none of their local or overseas cricketers were able to make their presence felt. Mashrafe admitted that their batting department has not been upto mark.
“Honestly, we were not even close in any of our matches. Clearly our batting department was lagging while we also bowled badly in the previous game. As I said, we have nothing to lose and now we have to give our best as at times, when there is less expectation, the pressure also gets minimised,” he said.
Comilla will take on Rangpur Riders in the second game on Friday and the Tigers' limited-over captain will no doubt be desperate to open their account.
