Barisal Bulls v Chittagong VikingsShahriar-Malan’s record BPL standIn the end, it was a rather comfortable seven-wicket win for Barisal against Chittagong. And the victory was achieved largely thanks to English cricketer Dawid Malan and Shahriar Nafees, who added 150 runs for the second wicket - the highest second wicket partnership in BPL history. The previous highest stand for the second wicket belonged to Rangpur Riders' Shamsur Rahman and Imrul Kayes, who made merry against Sylhet Royals in the second edition of the tournament. Shahriar Nafees provided Malan valuable support for the second wicket DHAKA TRIBUNEMalan’s three consecutive sixesBarisal left-hander Malan was in terrific touch against Chittagong, guiding his side to their third win in four games. In the process, Barisal reached the summit of the points table, alongside Khulna Titans and Dhaka Dynamites. The 29-year old remained unbeaten on 78 off just 48 balls with three fours and seven sixes. And among those seven over-boundaries, Malan struck three consecutive sixes off West Indies seamer Dwayne Smith in the 18th over. Needing 34 runs in the last three overs, Barisal eventually eased to their target, thanks in no small part to Malan. Barisal captain Mushfiqur Rahim created BPL history, becoming the first batsman to reach the 1000-run club DHAKA TRIBUNEMushfiq’s 1000 runs in BPLBarisal skipper Mushfiqur Rahim became the first batsman in BPL history to score 1000 runs. Before the game against Chittagong, he was five runs away from the milestone. The Tigers Test captain arrived at the crease when his side required seven runs in the last over. The wicketkeeper-batsman struck two fours off pacer Subhasish Roy and remained undefeated on 10 runs to guide his side to a comfortable win. Mushfiq now has 1005 runs in 38 matches at an average of 41.87, including seven fifties. Dhaka Dynamites' Shakib al Hasan is second with 799 runs having played equal number of games.Comilla Victorians v Dhaka DynamitesJashimuddin’s lucky escapeComilla’s young opening batsman Jashimuddin was extremely lucky during his first outing in BPL 4. The opener was facing off-spinner Nasir Hossain in the second over of the innings when he tried to play a sweep shot only to mistime it and see the ball hit the leg-stump. The bails however, remained unmoved despite the ball's deflection. The youngster though was unable to utilise the opportunity as he was dismissed off Sri Lankan leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna.
