Dhaka Dynamites defeated Barisal Bulls by eight wickets in the second match of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2016-17 season at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest target of 149, the Dynamites reached their destination with as many as 24 balls to spare for the loss of only two wickets.
Taijul Islam made the first breakthrough for the Bulls when he trapped Kumar Sangakkara (30) in front in the ninth over.
Captain Shakib al Hasan promoted himself to the No 3 position and scored 20 runs before being cleaned up by Monir Hossain in the 15th over.
Opening batsman Mehedi Maruf played a superb knock of 75 from 44 balls. He hit five boundaries and as many sixes and was adjudged player of the match.
Earlier, the Dynamites' skipper Shakib won the toss and elected to field first. The Dynamites took three wickets within the first six and at one stage, Barisal were struggling on 44/3 in eight overs. Then Shahriar Nafees and the Bulls' captain Mushfiqur Rahim added 82 runs for the fourth wicket. Shahriar played a fine knock of 55 runs off 34 balls with seven fours and two sixes.
Mushfiq batted till the end and scored exactly 50 runs in 36 deliveries with the help of four fours and half as many sixes.
