Gopalganj city of Bangladesh are currently sharing the second spot with India’s Kolkata city team after beating Dubai of United Arab Emirates in the seventh round Monday
Iran’s strong chess team of Tehran city continued their all winning record in the Asian Cities Chess Team Championship (Dubai Cup) 2019 to maintain solo lead at the top of the table after beating Lalitpur City of Nepal in Dhaka Monday.
Gopalganj city of Bangladesh are currently sharing the second spot with India’s Kolkata city team after beating Dubai of United Arab Emirates in the seventh round Monday. Bangladesh’s four Grandmasters – Enamul Hossain Razib, Ziaur Rahman, Reefat Bin Sattar and Mollah Abdullah al Rakib of Gopalganj won their respective game against Sultan Ibrahim, Ahmad Al Romaithi, Ali Abdulaziz and Hamdan Marshool of Dubai.
Tehran, who are four points ahead of Gopalganj after collecting full 14 points and winning all their seven matches, outplayed Lalitpur with a dominating win of 4-0 sets. GMs Mosadeghpour Masoud, Pour Agha Bala Amirreza, Golizadeh Asghar and IM Mousavi Sayed Khalil are representing Iran outfits.
A total of 14 teams from 11 countries – India, Iran, Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh – are taking part in the event including three teams from Bangladesh, hosting the tournament for the first time. Nepal also have two teams.
Other two teams from host country, Dhaka city comprising IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, FM Khandaker Aminul Islam and IM Abu Sufian Shakil is currently sitting in the fourth spot after beating Pakistan by 4-0 sets yesterday while Chattogram lost to third-placed Kolkata by 3.5-1.5 set.
