Dulal clinches Int’l Mother Language Day Chess

A total of 71 chess players took part in the competition

Mohammad Anwar Hossain Dulal of Uttara Central Club emerged as the unbeaten champion in the International Mother Language Day Second Open Air International Blitz Chess Tournament Thursday.

Dulal earned 6.5 points after six rounds.

Rafiqul Islam and Aminul Islam both totaled six points but the former finished runners-up after the tie-break.

Abdur Rouf and Golam Sarwar both tallied 5.5 points but the former ended fourth following the tie-break.

In the boys’ U-16 category, Rushil Adhin Reza finished champion while in the girls’ U-16 event, Sharna Tarafdar clinched the title.

Rubel Hossain was adjudged the best unrated chess player.

A total of 71 chess players took part in the competition.
