Ziaur Rahman, Bangladesh’s second GM, beat India’s Parke Sohas in the opening round while Bangladesh Fide Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman was also victorious, against India’s Vetsal Singhania

Bangladesh Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman and his son Tahsin Tajwar Zia were victorious in the 4th International GM Chess in Mumbai.

Ziaur, Bangladesh’s second GM, beat India’s Parke Sohas in the opening round while Bangladesh Fide Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman was also victorious, against India’s Vetsal Singhania.

A total of 120 players from 20 countries, including 19 GMs, two Women’s GMs, 26 International Masters and seven Women’s IMs are taking part in the GMs category. 

Tahsin, representing Golden Sporting Club, defeated India’s Sohawara Lakshmi Nawar in the second round. Tahsin has maximum two points from as many matches.

A total of 234 players from eight countries, including one IM, one Women’s IM and two FMs are partaking in the junior event.
