Star-studded Saif Sporting are only a step away from securing the title after registering their eighth consecutive victory

Reigning national champion, Bangladesh Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman drew against his son Tahsin Tajwar Zia during leader Saif Sporting Club’s 3-1 points win over Golden Sporting Club in the SA Group Premier Division Chess League in Dhaka Friday.

Star-studded Saif Sporting are only a step away from securing the title after registering their eighth consecutive victory. They now have the solo lead in the table with full 16 points from eight matches, while Bangladesh Navy are second with 13 points from as many outings.

The title could be decided Saturday if Saif Sporting win or Navy lose their ninth game.

Azerbaijan GM Eltaj Safarli and GM Enamul Hossain Razib defeated Fide Master Mehdi Hasan Parag and Indian Aronyak Ghosh respectively while International Master Arghyadip Das of India drew with Belarus GM Kovalev Vladislav.
