Saif Sporting roped in top-rated Belarus Grandmaster Kovalev Vladislav (rating-2683) and 2671-rated Azerbaijan GM Eltaj Safarli to team up with Bangladesh GMs Ziaur Rahman and Enamul Hossain Razib

Star-studded Saif Sporting Club lead the SA Group Premier Division Chess League points table, along with Bangladesh Navy, with two straight wins after the end of the second round at the chess federation’s hall room Friday.  

Saif Sporting roped in top-rated Belarus Grandmaster Kovalev Vladislav (rating-2683) and 2671-rated Azerbaijan GM Eltaj Safarli to team up with Bangladesh GMs Ziaur Rahman and Enamul Hossain Razib. 

They won the second round with ease by 4-0 points against Titas Club whose four players are Candidate Masters.

Bangladesh Navy defeated Fire Service and Civil Defense Sports Club by 2.5-1.5 points. 

Bangladesh Navy’s International Master Mohammad Minhaz Uddin and IM Abu Sufian Shakil beat Jewel Khan and Women's IM Rani Hamid while Mohammad Hasan Emam of Fire Service and Civil Defense Sports Club beat CM SM Sharon of Bangladesh Navy and CM Mohammad Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy drew with Mohammed Mainuddin of Fire Service and Civil Defense Sports Club.

Meanwhile, reigning champion Bengal Chess Club are not participating in the tournament this time.
