Fahad,  who currently has 2263 points, lost to much stronger Spanish GM Vazquez Igarza Renier (2573 rating points) but he has got 5.5 points in nine games to earn the norm

Bangladesh’s young Fide Master achieved an International Master Norm after 9th round games in the open section of the ongoing  43rd World Chess Olympiad at Sports Place in Batumi in Georgia.

Fahad,  who currently has 2263 points, lost to much stronger Spanish GM Vazquez Igarza Renier (2573 rating points) but he has got 5.5 points in nine games to earn the norm.

Bangladesh, the 64th seeded team, lost by 3.5-.5 against 24th seeded Spain in the ninth round as GM Ziaur Rahman could only salvage .5 for the side while Mollah Abdullah al Rakib and Enamul Hossain Razib lost along with Fahad.

Mea nwhile, Bangladesh women team beat Chile by 2.5-1.5 in the ninth round as WFM Tanima Parveen and Sharmin Sultana Shirin won their respective matches. Veteran WIM Rani Hamid drew her match while WIM Shamima Akter Liza lost her match.

After ninth round matches both open and women team accumulated 11 points.
