The fourth round games of the SA Group of Companies Limited Premier Division Chess League 2017, sponsored by SA Group of Companies Ltd and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation, was held Tuesday at National Sports Council Tower Auditorium Lounge in Dhaka.
In the fourth round, Bangladesh Navy drew with Bengal Chess Club Ltd 2-2. Fide Master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy beat Grand Master Niaz Murshed of Bengal Chess Club while Mohammad Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy beat Women's International Master Shamima Akter Liza of Bengal Chess Club. Georgian GM Mikhel Mchedishvili of Bengal Chess Club beat International Master Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy while another Georgian GM Luka Paichadze of Bengal Chess Club beat FM Khairul Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy.
Aminul played with black pieces against bishops opening of Luka and the former lost against the latter at the 57th move. Nasir played with white pieces against modern defense of Niaz as the former won in the 51st move.
Reigning Premier Division League champion Saif Sporting Club Ltd beat Fire Service and Civil Defense Sports Club 4-0. Ukrainian GM Martyn Kravtsiv, Russian GM Aleksey Goganov, national champion, GM Enamul Hossain Razib and GM Mollah Abdullah al Rakib of Saif Sporting Club Ltd won against Badrul Alam, Avik Sarkar, Mohammed Mainuddin and Abu Hanif respectively of Fire Service and Civil Defense Sports Club.
Bengal Chess Club Ltd earned seven points after the fourth round to lead the points table. Holder Saif Sporting Club garnered maximum six points after three matches while Sheikh Russel Chess Club have six points after four games and both of them are tied for second position. Bangladesh Navy totaled five points after three matches while Sultana Kamal Smriti Pathagar earned five points out after four games.
Sheikh Russel Chess Club beat Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club by 3.5-1.5 points. Indian Kaustuv Kundu, IM Abu Sufian Shakil and Indian Neelash Saha of Sheikh Russel Chess Club won against Shahnaz Mohammad Faruque, Abdul Momin and Mohammad Matiur Rahman Mamun respectively of Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club. Hanif of Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club drew with FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Sheikh Russel Chess Club.
Titas Club beat Leonine Chess Club by 3.5-1.5 points. FM Mohammad Saif Uddin Lavlu, Candidate Master Ikramul Haq Siam and FM Mohammed Malek of Titas Club won against FM Rezaul Haque, Mohammad Jamal Uddin and WIM Nazrana Khan Eva respectively of Leonine Chess Club. CM Sohel Chowdhury of Titas Club drew with Mohammad Aminul Islam of Leonine Chess Club. Sultana Kamal Smriti Pathagar drew with Access Chess Club 2-2.
WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin of Sultana Kamal Smriti Pathagar beat Gias Uddin Ahmed of Access Chess, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam of Access Chess beat Delwar Hossain of Sultana Kamal Smriti Pathagar, Mihir Lal Das and Badal Halder of Sultana Kamal Smriti Pathagar drew with Ahmed Hossain Majumder and Sheik Mohammad Khairul Islam respectively of Access Chess.
