Bangladesh Grandmaster Enamul Hossain Razib and Women International Master Shamima Akter Liza are currently second after the third round of their respective events in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Games, which is now being held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The 2432nd rated Razib drew against tournament’s second seeded player and 2699th rated Chinese GM Yue Wang in the third round of the men’s individual chess event while Liza beat Indian International Master Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman in the women’s individual category.
Razib earned 2.5 points following the third round to be placed jointly at second, along with Wang and GMs Sasikiran of India and Dao Diyan Hai of Vietnam.
Liza also earned the same number of points to share second spot along with three other players.
Meanwhile, a five-member Bangladesh wrestling team went to Turkmenistan to take part in the same event.
Guided by coach and manager Abdul Momin and Mezbah Uddin Azad, Bangladesh team comprising Shirin Sultana, Abdur Rashid, Ali Amzad and Dipu will participate in the tournament.
