After sharing the lead in the previous rounds, Bangladesh Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman carried on his amazing run in the 10th KIIT International Chess Festival as he took the solo lead following the end of the sixth round in Bhubaneswar, India.
Ziaur remained unbeaten in the tournament, defeating Indian International Master Sayantan Das on Tuesday. The 42-year old won after 22 moves and earned 5.5 points from six matches.
Another Bangladesh GM Reefat bin Sattar, who was joint top after the previous round, drew against Sidhant Mohapatra of India to move to second place with five points, along with 11 others. Reefat is participating in an international chess event after a three-year break.
The country’s youngest Fide Master Fahad Rahman earned four points after the end of the sixth round as he drew with IM Raghunandan Kaumandur Srihari of India.
Meanwhile, GM Niaz Murshed lost to Aditya Mittal of India.
