Bangladesh Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman was placed jointly at the top after the third round of the 10th KIIT International Chess Festival in Bhubaneswar in Orissa, India.
Ziaur defeated Aksh Lyer of India in the third round on Sunday, which was his third straight victory in the event. He earned three points to share the lead alongside 10 other players.
Other representatives from Bangladesh, GM Reefat Bin Sattar and Fide Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman earned 2.5 points each and were placed jointly at second position along with 30 others. Reefat beat Jeet Jain of India while Fahad defeated Amarasinghe of Sri Lanka in the third round.
