Asian Athletics Association president Dahlan al Hamad arrived in Dhaka Wednesday evening for a three-day visit. He will leave the country Saturday morning after inaugurating the 41st edition of the National Athletics Championship, scheduled to get underway Friday. Bangladesh Athletics Federation general secretary Abdur Rokib Montu informed that this is the first time they greeted an AAF president in Bangladesh and hinted of seeking technical and financial support for the installment of the proposed Sheikh Kamal Athletics Academy. After holding different national athletics events without electronic timing and photo-finish, the athletics federation however, managed to repair the electronic timer for the upcoming event while new battery for the scoreboard and camera for the photo-finish were also bought for the event. Hamad is also the vice-president of world athletics’ governing body, the International Associations of Athletics Federations. The AAA president was scheduled for a courtesy meeting with the Youth and Sports Minister Sree Biren Sikder Wednesday night before visiting Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 to pay respect to Bangladesh's founding father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Thursday.
