Shakib said changes in batting order are a common thing in T20 cricket

Tigers all-rounder Shakib al Hasan informed that changes in the batting order in their 26-run win against hosts Oman was made according to the match situation.

Bangladesh made quite a few changes in their usual batting order compared to the first qualifier against Scotland as Mahedi Hasan was promoted to No 3.

Shakib came in at No 4 instead of his No 3 position while Nurul Hasan and Afif Hossain were promoted to Nos 5 and 6 respectively.

Skipper Mahmudullah came out to bat at No 7 while Mushfiqur Rahim batted at No 8.

"According to the match scenario, whoever the coach and captain thought would be ideal, came out to bat, those who are capable of handling that situation. At one point we thought we would get to 170-180 if everyone's batting had clicked. That's the reason why there were many changes in the batting order. It's natural in T20 cricket," said Shakib during the post match press conference.

"When a team loses one or two wickets after 10-11 overs, at that time naturally the number six and seven batsmen get promoted up the order. This is quite a common practice in T20.

"When a team wins, these decisions are applauded, and gets blamed in case of defeat. Many a time the coach and the captain have to take this kind of a decision. We as teammates back the decision."

Bangladesh will play their last match in the qualifiers Thursday against Papua New Guinea and a win with a good run rate will ensure the Tigers go through to the super 12 stage.
