Nazmul made the national team representatives answer to queries, but was not 100% satisfied
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan is extremely upset with the Bangladesh cricket team’s defeat in their opening game of the T20 World Cup 2021.
Bangladesh suffered a six-run humiliation against Scotland, despite being tagged as the favorites in Group B of the qualifying round.
Nazmul is not being able to go near the team due to the bio-bubble safety.
The BCB boss however, is eager to know the reasons behind the massive failure, and in an effort to find out met head coach Russell Domingo, captain Mahmudullah and star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan in an online meeting session Monday.
It is understood that Nazmul along with BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan and influential director Ismail Haider Mallick made the national team representatives answer to queries, but were not 100% satisfied.
“We are not happy with his [Domingo’s] answers. We tried to find out several things in the meeting and he had his own explanations. We said what we felt is right to him,” said an individual who was part of the meeting.
It is learnt that the influential directors of the board are unhappy with Domingo and his decision making and his recently negotiated extension of the contract with BCB is now in jeopardy.
Domingo was offered a new two-year deal with the Bangladesh team, to which the South African happily obliged.
“Akram was also with me in the meeting. We had questioned him [Domingo] why Naim [opener Mohammad Naim] was dropped despite preparing him for the T20 World Cup for the last few months,” informed Nazmul while speaking to the media in Muscat Monday.
“What I am trying to emphasize here is that we did not understand the planning that went behind in the game against Scotland. They must change their approach. Those who dare to hit for boundaries should bat up to take advantage of the first six overs,” the BCB supremo added.
Bangladesh now face must win games to move forward in the tournament.
The tourists will take on highly motivated hosts Oman at Al Amerat Stadium Tuesday.
