Bangladesh's Soumya Sarkar plays a shot during their third T20 away to Zimbabwe Sunday Zimbabwe Cricket

Bangladesh reached their destination, their second best ever chase, with four balls to spare after Soumya struck a 49-ball 68, his best ever T20I score

Soumya Sarkar put in an all-round performance to lead Bangladesh to a T20I series win over Zimbabwe as the visitors chased down a target of 194 with five wickets to spare in the third and final match at Harare Sports Club Sunday.

Bangladesh reached their destination, their second best ever chase, with four balls to spare after Soumya struck a 49-ball 68, his best ever T20I score that was laced with nine fours and a six.

Player of the match and series Soumya, who registered his fifth T20 fifty, was involved in two major partnerships - 50 with Shakib al Hasan (25) for the second wicket, and 63 with Mahmudullah (34) for the third.

Young Shamim Hossain (31* off 15) and Afif Hossain (14 off five) later put the finishing touch as Bangladesh sealed the series 2-1 after winning the first game by eight wickets before losing the second by 23 runs.

The touring side had also won the solitary Test before sweeping the ODI series 3-0.

Earlier, a great effort by the Zimbabwe batsmen enabled them to post 193/5.

Opener Wesley Madhevere (54 runs) and top-order batsman Regis Chakabva (48) led the way and there were valuable contributions from Ryan Burl (31 not out), Tadiwanashe Marumani (27) and Dion Myers (23).

The only batsman to flop was skipper Sikandar Raza, who was out for a duck, his second of the series, and he was run out for four in the other innings.

Madhevere was out off the first ball of the 16th over as he miscued a reverse sweep and was caught at short third man by Shariful Islam having struck six fours.

Chakabva hit six sixes before being dismissed by a spectacular catch with Mohammad Naim flicking the ball back at deep midwicket and Shamim stretching to grab it.

Zimbabwe have shown continuous batting improvement from Thursday, scoring 152 and 166 in previous innings as they seek a historic first victory in a two-nation T20 series.

Only right-arm medium fast bowler Soumya impressed for Bangladesh, taking two wickets in five balls and finishing with 2/19.
