Headed by BCB directors Mahmud and Inam, Bangladesh Tigers will be a doorway for the out-of-favor national team cricketers
Bangladesh Cricket Board is set to launch a shadow national team called Bangladesh Tigers.
The board came to the decision following its 10th meeting Tuesday.
Headed by BCB directors Khaled Mahmud and Kazi Inam Ahmed, Bangladesh Tigers will be a doorway for the out-of-favor national team cricketers.
The national discards often raise the concern of not getting up to the mark facilities to make a comeback.
Under Bangladesh Tigers, the discards will have the same facilities to that of the national team to hone their skills.
“Those who missed out from the national team will play in the shadow national team. They will have all facilities that the national team get. The idea to launch this has come so that the players can prepare themselves and keep themselves ready when not part of the national team,” said BCB president Nazmul Hasan to the media Tuesday.
The shadow national team, to be called Bangladesh Tigers, will be under the supervision of the national team coach through a set of BCB coaches.
“BCB local coaches will work with the cricketers here under the supervision of the national head coach. In case a player is needed for the national team, he will be picked from here. There will be several players for each position and the best one at the point of need will be picked to serve the national team. This way these cricketers can keep in shape and also the national selection panel gets to make a quick call,” said Nazmul.
