Bangladesh Cricket Board Tuesday declared three women’s teams – Red, Blue and Green - for the upcoming Bangladesh Games.
For the first time, women’s cricket has been included as a discipline in the games.
The three-team competition in the Bangladesh Games this year will begin Saturday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The women cricketers from the national fold were involved in a camp in Sylhet as cricket returned to the field in the country since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 32 cricketers then had a week-long camp in Dhaka before they went back to Sylhet for the Bangladesh Games.
Experienced local coach Wahidul Ghani imparts some bowling wisdom to Salma Khatun BCB The selected cricketers from Bangladesh U-19 girls’ camp, also held in Sylhet, will join their respective teams in Bangladesh Games teams.
“A total of 32 cricketers travelled to Sylhet from Dhaka and the U-19 cricketers who got selected have stayed back in Sylhet,” informed BCB women’s wing in-charge Towhid Mahmud to the media.
The three teams – Red, Green and Blue - consist of cricketers from the national squad, emerging squad and U-19 side.
Five U-19 cricketers got selected for the Red team.
