Tanvir registered match figure of 13/106 as Bangladesh Emerging Team cantered to victory with a day to spare
Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam guided Bangladesh Emerging Team to an innings and 23-run victory with his brilliant 13-wicket haul against Ireland Wolves in the lone four-dayer at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
The 24-year old Tanvir registered match figure of 13/106 as the home side cantered to victory with a day to spare against the hapless visiting side, who crumbled for 139 to follow up on their below-par 151 in the first innings.
Tanvir, who has represented Khulna Titans and Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity in the domestic circuit, ran through the Ireland Wolves on the third day, scalping 8/51 after his 5/55 in the first essay.
This was the first time Tanvir took more than 10 wickets in a match in his 12-game first-class career, and also the first and second instance of him taking a five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
Ireland Wolves, resuming on their overnight score of 35/4, lost their remaining six wickets for 104, Tanvir alone taking five of them.
Captain Saif Hasan and right-arm seamer Ebadat Hossain picked up one wicket each as visiting captain Harry Tector played a lone hand with his 55.
Bangladesh Emerging Team were only required to bat once as they put up a formidable 313, thanks to Yasir Ali’s 92, and 40-odd knocks from Saif (49), Tanzid Hasan (41) and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (42).
The two teams will now turn their attention to the first of five unofficial ODIs, scheduled to be played at the same venue Friday.
Ireland Wolves will conclude their tour with a two-T20 series in Dhaka.
