BCB named Razzak as the third senior selector last month following an online board meeting.

Veteran left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak is set to retire from all forms of cricket after joining the Bangladesh Cricket Board national selection panel officially.

BCB named Razzak as the third senior selector last month following an online board meeting.

Razzak is set to join former captains Minhajul Abedin, the chief of the panel, and Habibul Bashar.

Razzak visited the BCB office Thursday to meet BCB president Nazmul Hasan and complete the official formalities with the board.

Given that he is a part of the national selection panel, Razzak has to finally hang up his boots as a cricketer.

Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Habibul Bashar Sumon are already in the selection panel and former left-arm spinner Razzak will be the third member of the panel led by Nannu

“I went to BCB and met the president and got introduced as a member of the selection panel. I will not be able to remain a player once I join the board as a selector for which I have to go into retirement. But I will declare my retirement through Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh,” said Razzak to the media Thursday.

Meanwhile, BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan informed that Razzak has already started giving input in the selection committee and only the formalities with the papers remain.

“He (Razzak) came to BCB and has already started working in the selection process. It will take may be another one or two days to complete the paper work. We are happy to have a player like him join as a member of the national selection panel,” said Akram.

The veteran Razzak played 200 international matches for Bangladesh between 2004 and 2018 and has bagged 278 wickets.
