Navy finished top in the medal standing with 21 golds, 12 silvers and 13 bronzes
Bangladesh Navy’s Shirin Akter replicated her heroics in the 100m onto the 200m event as she bagged the gold medal in the National Athletics at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Sunday.
Shirin retained her 200m crown after clocking 24.6s, ahead of Bangladesh Army’s Sharifa Khatun (25s) in second, and Ansar and VDP’s Kobita Roy (25.7s) in third.
Jahir meanwhile, regained his 200m crown after losing to Mohammad Ismail in the last edition, after registering a time of 21.4s, ahead of Bangladesh Jail’s Naim Islam (22.3s) in second and Ansar’s Sifat Sheikh (22.4s) in third.
Navy finished top in the medal standing with 21 golds, 12 silvers and 13 bronzes, while Army ended second with 13 golds, 20 silvers and nine bronzes.
A national record was created Sunday in the National Athletics in the women’s high jump where Army’s Ritu Akter jumped 1.7m, bettering Umme Hafsa Rumki’s 2019 national record of 1.68m.
