Brothers came close to grabbing the equalizer in the latter stages of the game but Zunapio’s shot struck the post
Brothers Union goalkeeper Mohiuddin Ranu had a day to forget as his howlers led to Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s 2-1 victory in their Bangladesh Premier League match Friday at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
Abdul Quayyum Sentu’s charges went behind after Ranu’s first indiscretion in the 13th minute when he grasped the ball with his arms outside the box, thus leading to a Sheikh Russel free-kick from which Mohammad Abdullah found the back of the net.
Sheikh Russel doubled their lead just three minutes later when Ranu once again was at fault, sprinting outside the box only to parry away Baktyiar Duishobekov’s through pass towards Giancarlo Lopez, who headed home.
The Gopibagh-based outfit reduced the deficit through Congolese Sio Zunapio in the 32nd minute from the penalty spot after Sheikh Russel’s Didarul handled the ball inside the box.
