Chasing 133, Barishal lost a few wickets in the late stage but Tamim held firm, playing an unbeaten 77 off 61 balls, with 10 fours and a couple of sixes
Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal guided his team to a comfortable victory against Minister Group Rajshahi during their Bangabandhu T20 Cup match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Saturday.
Chasing 133 for their first victory after losing their tournament opener, Barishal lost a few wickets in the late stage but Tamim held firm, playing an unbeaten 77 off 61 balls, with 10 fours and a couple of sixes.
Rajshahi earlier put up a decent total of 132 in their stipulated 20 overs after winning their first two matches.
Rajshahi made a good start as openers Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Anisul Islam Emon (both 24) formed a 39-run stand in the first powerplay.

But 39 for no loss soon turned into 63/5 in the 11th over.
Fazley Rabbi (31) and Mahedi Hasan (34) then added 65 but the dismissals of these two restricted Rajshahi to a much smaller total in their allotted 20 overs.
Barishal’s Kamrul Islam Rabbi was the best bowler of the game with four wickets coming at the cost of 21 runs.
