Army, BHF green into President’s Cup final

The final is slated for a 3:30pm start at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka Sunday

Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Hockey Federation green team will lock horns with each other in the final of the President’s Cup Sunday after the conclusion of the double round robin league phase.

Army finished at the top with 12 points from four games, their last match Friday against Bangladesh Air Force ending in a resounding 8-0 win for the former.

Milon Hossain and Mamun Mia scored two field goals each for Army, while Manoj Babu grabbed two goals from penalty corner.

Ahsan Habib and Tanjim Ahmed with one field goal and one goal from penalty corner were also on the scoresheet for Army.

Bangladesh Army picked up their second consecutive victory in the President’s Cup Hockey when they thumped Bangladesh Police 5-0 at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka Saturday.

BHF green team ended second with nine points, and will now prepare for the final, slated for a 3:30pm start at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka.

BHF red team, Bangladesh Police and Air Force finished third, fourth and fifth respectively with four, two and one point.

The tournament was organized to commemorate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
