Finland-born Bangladeshi footballer Tariq Kazi has been ruled out of the upcoming Fifa friendlies against Nepal on November 13 and 17 due to a groin injury incurred during training Thursday.
Defender Kazi follows injured midfielder Mamunul Islam in the sidelines and will now have to wait for his much-anticipated international debut.
The 20-year old will head to his club Bashundhara Kings for his recovery from the ongoing national camp.
The double injury will come as a blow to Jamie Day and his plans as Bangladesh bid to dust off their cobwebs and play their first international game since the Covid-19 pandemic.
“There is a tear in the groin. I would like to thank all the coaches and players here at the national team for making me feel so warm. I had a great time with all of them. Everything has worked out brilliantly here at the camp. Now my dreams are postponed but see you soon,” said Kazi to the media.
