The Bangabandhu U-21 Junior Asia Cup Hockey was already deferred once to next year in January but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament has once again been pushed back to May or June.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation took this decision after meeting and discussing with Jahid Ahsan Russel, the State Minister for Youth and Sports.
Despite the Junior Asia Cup postponement, the Asian Champions Trophy will be held in March in its scheduled time.
As a result, the Bangladesh junior hockey team will halt their ongoing training activities within a few days.
The national team meanwhile, will begin training soon while the domestic league will also start.
Bangladesh have been pitted in Group A in the Junior Asia Cup along with India, Pakistan, South Korea and Chinese Taipei, while Group B comprises Japan, Malaysia, China, Uzbekistan and Singapore.
