It got underway with the presence of 136 councilors out of a total of 139, as well as the members of BFF’s last executive committee at 11am
The Annual General Meeting of the much-awaited Bangladesh Football Federation Elective Congress 2020 has concluded peacefully at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka Saturday.
It got underway in cheerful mood with the presence of 136 councilors out of a total of 139, as well as the members of BFF’s last executive committee at 11am.
After incumbent president Kazi Salahuddin and general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag presented their reports, senior vice president and finance committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy submitted the financial statement.
Following the approval of the financial statement, the AGM went into a breather for the lunch break.
The elections are scheduled to begin at 2pm and end at 6pm.
Sheikh Mohammad Aslam, the senior vice president candidate of the Samannay panel was content with the AGM.
"It was very neat and well managed. We have been improving by years and keeping our level to global standards. I was pleased with the AGM as a whole," said the former national footballer.
"However, there were some discrepancies in the speech of the general secretary as I believe all his submitted facts were not true. The audience also protested the false facts," he added.
“The AGM took place in a disciplined way and ended peacefully. It was like family meeting after long time and everyone wanted to work together,” said Arif Hossain Moon, a delegate, former national footballer and president of Nilfamari District Sports Association after the meeting.
Moon is contesting for executive member post under the banner of Samannay panel.
Bashundhara Kings’ president Imrul Hasan, the vice-president candidate from Sammilito panel, and Amit Khan Shuvro, member candidate from the same panel also echoed the same tune.
"I have participated in the AGM for the second time. This time it was more organized than last year. Everyone seemed to be in jolly mood. There was no argument. Last year’s audit report and the proposed budget of next year was approved in the AGM. It was said from Samannay Parishad that they have no president candidate," said Imrul, who is running for one of the four vice president's posts.
The delegates from different clubs, organizations, district and divisional football associations will start casting votes after the lunch break to elect the new executive committee of the BFF for the next four years.
The 21-member committee comprises the president, a senior vice-president, four vice-presidents and 15 executive members.
The number of candidates contesting in two panels and independently is 47.
The three-time BFF president Kazi Salahuddin-led Sammilito Parishad, or combined panel, has full panel of 21 members, while Samannay Parishad, or coordinated panel, has 19 members.
The rest are independent candidates.
The BFF Election was initially scheduled to be held on April 20 before being deferred due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The election schedule was announced on September 3.
