Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza informed that as a team, they are stronger after a competitive series against Sri Lanka recently, and that they are ready to tackle the spin bowling challenge from Bangladesh in the lone Test, starting Saturday in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

“The way we are preparing ourselves for the Test match, I think there will be not that much pressure. As a team we have improved in mental aspects of the game. We are a stronger team now,” said Raza to the media Thursday after their practice session.

Raza admitted that Bangladesh spinners have tasted success against the Zimbabweans across all formats in the recent and distant past but said the African nation have improved over the years in negotiating the slower bowlers in testing conditions.

“Spinners have always performed well against us. But we have travelled to Bangladesh a lot and played against their spinners for a long time. Yes they have been successful against us but we have started to score runs against them as well. The Test we had won against Bangladesh (in 2018 in Sylhet) was the primary example,” said Raza.

“We had a very good series against Sri Lanka. The won the first game but the match could have been drawn. And the second Test was a draw but we were so close to victory. We are taking positive notes from the Sri Lanka series. It will help us in the next match against Bangladesh,” he concluded.
