After cycling and archery, now Bangladesh Basketball Federation had to postpone the Bangabandhu Cup Invitational Basketball Championship, which was scheduled to be held in Dhaka next month.

A total of eight countries including India, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Singapore and Malaysia were expected to take part in the competition, but the latter two refused to travel due to coronavirus threats, informed BBF general secretary AK Sarkar Wednesday.

“We had planned to organize three international events including the Bangabandhu Cup tournament after the name of Bangabandhu to celebrate the ‘Mujib Borsho’ in March. But now we are forced to defer the schedule after Singapore and Malaysia denied travelling owing to coronavirus outbreak,” said Sarkar adding that the event could be rescheduled for July.
