This is the first time in 13 attempts that the Bangladesh U-19 side have advanced to the grand finale where mighty four-time winner India lie in wait
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and T20I captain Mahmudullah have heaped praise on the national U-19 team, who qualified for the U-19 World Cup for the first time ever in history Thursday.
This is the first time in 13 attempts that the Bangladesh U-19 side have advanced to the grand finale where mighty four-time winner India lie in wait.
The final will be held Sunday at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, the same venue where the youngsters in red and green beat New Zealand by six wickets in the second semi-final.
“The young tigers have made history! With a great display of all-round cricket, the tigers of Bangladesh beat the young Kiwis to secure a place in the final of the ICC U-19 World Cup for the first time ever,” said Shakib on social media hours after the junior Tigers’ triumph.
Mushfiq, captain of the Bangladesh U-19 team, also comprising Shakib, in the 2006 edition, said on his official facebook page, “UNDER 19 WORLD CUP FINAL FOR THE FIRST TIME - CONGRATULATIONS LADS!”
Meanwhile, Mahmudullah posted on social media, “Congratulations Young Tigers on reaching the Finals of U19 World Cup!!”
