Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan said it is a matter of great pride to see the women’s cricket team take part in the World T20I, scheduled to be held in Australia from February 21 to March 8 this year.

The Tigresses will face India in their opening match on February 24 in Perth before locking horns with Australia on February 27 in Canberra, New Zealand on February 29 in Melbourne and Sri Lanka on March 2 at the MCG.

Prior to that, the women in red and green will undergo a 13-day conditioning camp in Gold Coast, Australia in order to acclimatize themselves to the conditions.

Bangladesh will leave here for down under Sunday evening at 6pm and ahead of their departure, BCB boss Nazmul said, “I won’t say the (recent) performances have been really good, but it’s not bad either. They have won the Asia Cup, that’s a positive side. They are confident to perform well in the World (T20I). After the (recent) India tour their confidence has been boosted.”

“We will send them two weeks earlier in Australia. They will have the chance to cope up with the conditions there. We tried our best but it would have been better if we could have done more. It’s not deniable that men cricketers have better facilities than the women’s team, but soon they’ll get more facilities. I believe that women’s cricket will bring glory for us,” added Nazmul during the team’s photo session Thursday in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
