Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will be unavailable in the first round of the Bangladesh Cricket League for BCB North Zone due to hamstring injury.

Mushfiq had incurred the injury during the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 that concluded earlier this month.

Having opted not to be a part of Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan owing to personal reasons, Mushfiq was supposed to be available for the major part of the franchise-based four-day tournament, starting Thursday.

“Mushfiq had suffered the hamstring injury during the BBPL, but still played the final [for Khulna Tigers]. But now it has aggravated and so, he will not be available for the first round BCL game as their physio has advised him to rest,” Bangladesh Cricket Board chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury informed the media Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Walton Central Zone will miss the services of spinning-allrounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who is recovering from a finger injury.

The former Bangladesh U-19 captain was present during Central Zone’s practice session at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Wednesday but had to sit in the sidelines after consulting the BCB doctors.

On the other hand, Khaled Hossain and Nasir Hossain will also miss the opening match for Islami Bank East Zone.

Khaled will be unavailable due to a side strain injury picked up during the practice session while Nasir failed the compulsory fitness test.

National discard Nasir could score only level 10 in the beep test whereas the benchmark has been set at level 11 by the national selectors.

“Khaled was bowling well in the nets but unfortunately suffered a side strain injury and has now been ruled out from the opening phase of the tournament,” said East Zone coach Abdul Karim to the media.

Karim informed that his side will wait for Nasir to pass the fitness test and join the team soon.

“We are not looking for replacement of Nasir at the moment. The team management has decided to wait and see if he can be available for us for the other rounds of the tournament,” said Karim.
