The U-19 World Cup match between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Potchefstroom Friday was washed out

Bangladesh will face either host South Africa or the United Arab Emirates in the quarter-final

Bangladesh U-19 cricket team finished as the Group C champion after their third and final group stage match against Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup was washed out Friday at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.

Persistent rainfall meant the two teams had to be content with a share of the points as the junior Tigers and the Pakistanis both ended with five points from three games.

Bangladesh however, ended as the pool champion due to a superior net run rate.

The match was reduced to 37 overs per side as rain played spoilsport after Bangladesh were invited to bat first.

The youngsters in red and green posted 106 runs losing nine wickets in 25 overs before rain came pouring down and forced the abandonment of the game.

Opening batsman Tanzid Hasan top-scored with 34 off 35 balls with three fours and a six while Avishek Das, who replaced Mrittunjoy Chowdhury in the starting XI, made 20.

Shahadat Hossain chipped in with 16.

Pakistan’s Amir Khan bagged four wickets while Abbas Afridi and Amir Ali notched three and one scalp respectively.

Bangladesh will face either host South Africa or the United Arab Emirates in the quarter-final.
