Bangladesh Navy's Shirin Akter had won the 100m race on the opening day of the meet Thursday and completed the double with the 200m win in 24.7s with Bangladesh Army’s Sharifa Khatun finishing second in 25.6s
The country’s fastest female sprinter, Shirin Akter completed the double of 100m and 200m sprint in the National Athletics Championship, but sprinter Jahir Rayhan was not so lucky as the premier athletics Bangladeshi meet came to an end Saturday at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong.
Shirin had won the 100m race on the opening day of the meet Thursday and completed the double with the 200m win in 24.7s with Bangladesh Army’s Sharifa Khatun finishing second in 25.6s.
In the process, Bangladesh Navy’s Shirin buried the bitter memories of her second place finish in the last edition where Sohagi Akter pipped her to the gold medal after a photo finish.
