Rajshahi Royals opening batsman Liton Kumar Das is enjoying a good run of form in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20, and the right-hander informed that his marriage last year has increased his maturity level as a player which is helping him to be a more consistent performer.

After the match-winning innings of 75 from 48 deliveries against Chattogram Challengers, including 11 boundaries and one six, Liton said marriage life has certainly helped him not only on the field, but off the field as well.

“I have become more matured now. I can mention the reasons behind it. When I was dropped from the national team in the 2016-17 season, that time helped me to learn a lot, as I was never in off-form in domestic level. And another thing is I am lucky to get married at such an early age. Marriage has increased my maturity level. I can feel it,” Liton told the media during the post-match press conference at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Saturday.

“I don’t know what others feel about themselves on this issue. But I have felt in a way that marriage has increased my maturity level everywhere, whether in cricket or outside of cricket,” added the 25-year old.

Liton certainly has a point as he previously scored 641 runs in the BPL in 40 innings with a disappointing average of 16.43.

But after tying the knot in July last year following the World Cup in England and Wales, Liton’s fortunes have changed as he has totaled 422 runs in this BPL so far in 12 innings with an average of 38.36 and strike rate of 139.73.
