Dhaka Platoon swept into the playoffs after swatting aside Rangpur Rangers by 61 runs in their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Wednesday.

Dhaka join Chattogram Challengers and Rajshahi Royals in the last four, while Rangpur are now out of the race for the playoffs.

One of Khulna Tigers or Cumilla Warriors will progress to the last four of the special edition of the BPL, organized to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Asked to bat first, Dhaka posted a competitive 145 losing nine wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, opening batsman Tamim Iqbal top-scoring with 40 off 38 balls.

Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan (31 off 19) then added the late flourish to take Platoon close to the 150-run mark.
