Uttar Baridhara Club crashed out of the TVS Federation Cup after losing to Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra 2-1 in their second Group D match at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Tuesday.
Baridhara, the newly promoted side, are yet to register a point after losing two matches.
They will conclude their group campaign against Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited Saturday.
It was however, Baridhara outfit who took the lead in the 40th minute through a powerful strike by Landing Darboe after Arif Hossain chested down a cross from Noyon Mia.
Muktijoddha equalized in the added time of the first half as Ismail Bangoura tapped inside a low cross from substitute Sarwar Zaman Nipu, who replaced Sujon Biswas.
Baridhara coach Alfaz Ahmed admitted at the post-match press conference that the equalizer put his new and inexperienced boys morally down and they couldn’t recover from it.
Japanese midfielder Norito Hashiguchi sealed Muktijoddha’s first win of the season in the 73rd minute firing home at the near post after collecting a through pass from Mehedi Hasan.
“We were confident to come back after conceding the goal. We squandered some chances but I can’t blame anyone because we worked on finishing for only one session. I’m happy with three points,” said Muktis head coach Abdul Kayum Sentu.
