“My heartiest congratulations to all of you. I am very happy that you have brought the honour to the country. You all are invited to the Ganabhaban,” said Sheikh Hasina over a phone call to the cricket team.
Chasing to 123, Bangladesh reached shore in 18.1 overs losing three wickets. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto topped the Bangladesh U23 innings with an unbeaten 35 while Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarker added 33 and 27 respectively to the tally.
Sri Lanka were sent to bat first after losing the toss and posted 122 runs losing all wickets in 20 overs. Pacer Hasan Mahmud picked three wickets for Bangladesh conceding just 20 runs in his four overs while left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam took two giving away 28 runs.
