Bangladesh archers Mohammad Ruman Shana, Mohammad Tamimul Islam and Mohammad Hakim Rubel had earlier received a bye in the 1/12 round before beating Vietnam by 5-4 sets in the 1/8 pre-quarterfinal round

Bangladesh lost the quarterfinal of the recurve men’s team event against independent archers from World Archery Federation in the 21st edition of the Asian Archery Championship in Bangkok, Thailand Tuesday.

Bangladesh archers Mohammad Ruman Shana, Mohammad Tamimul Islam and Mohammad Hakim Rubel had earlier received a bye in the 1/12 round before beating Vietnam by 5-4 sets in the 1/8 pre-quarterfinal round.

In the same event of the women’s category, Bangladesh’s Mehnaz Akter Monira, Beauty Ray and Mosammat Eti Khatun lost 5-1 to Chinese Taipei in the 1/8 pre-quarterfinal round.

In the compound men’s team event, Bangladesh’s Asim Kumar Das, Mohammad Sohel Rana and Mohammad Ashikuzzaman lost by a score of 230-227 to Thailand in the 1/8 pre-quarterfinal round.

In the same event of the women’s category, Bangladesh’s Sushmita Banik, Banya Akter and Shyamoli Ray lost by a score of 218-217 to the Philippines in the 1/8 pre-quarter-final round.

Meanwhile, Mehnaz, Beauty and Eti will take part in the women’s team event in the Continental Qualification Tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, starting Thursday.

The winner from this qualification tournament will get the right to participate in the Olympics next year.
