Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das and off-spinner Nayeem Hasan have both been ruled out of the rest of the Kolkata Test match, as they were diagnosed with delayed onset of concussion.

Liton and Nayeem were both struck in the helmet by bouncers from Indian pacer Mohammad Shami either side of the supper interval on the first day’s play at Eden Gardens.

Liton has been substituted by Mehedi Hasan Miraz, while Taijul Islam has taken Nayeem’s place.

“Both players [Liton and Nayeem] have been diagnosed with delayed onset of concussion by the medical team after being struck on the helmet while batting. Consequently, their symptoms have ruled them out of the rest of the Test and they have been substituted with Miraz and Taijul respectively. They will now follow their concussion recovery protocol to ensure their safe recovery,” said a press release from the Bangladesh Cricket Board Friday.

Bangladesh were all out for 106 after just 30.3 overs on the first day of the second Test, while India reached stumps on 174/3.
