The skipper specially lauded his pace bowlers, the triumvirate of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, who picked up 14 wickets between them, to make the opponent surrender meekly in both innings
India captain Virat Kohli termed his team’s win against Bangladesh a clinical one as they beat the Tigers by an innings and 130 runs, and within three days no less, in the first Test match at Holkar Stadium Saturday.
"Don't know what to say, another clinical performance," Kohli said after the win.
The skipper specially lauded his pace bowlers, the triumvirate of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, who picked up 14 wickets between them, to make the opponent surrender meekly in both innings.
"These guys (our pacemen) are on top of their game, when they bowl, it looks like any pitch is a good pitch,” said Kohli, adding the fact that they were even without their key fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in this game.
It is mentionable that Shami and Yadav shared 24 wickets between them in India's recent 3-0 Test sweep of South Africa.
@BCBtigers interim Test captain @MominulHaque68 stated the obvious as he said they should have batted with more patience after losing the first of two Test matches against @BCCI by an innings and 130 runs at Holkar Cricket Stadium Saturday.https://t.co/ws0FNrlBOm#BCBTIGERS #BCB— Dhaka Tribune Sports (@Sport_DT) November 16, 2019
However, during the wicket feast, one Indian batsman proved there were no demons on the pitch as Mayank Agarwal played a massive 243-run innings, his second double ton in just eight Test appearances and was adjudged man of the match.
Kohli showered the 28-year old batsman with high praise.
"Very professional with the bat, playing five batters with one guy taking responsibility is what we want with overseas tours coming up," said Kohli.
"Hats off to the boys,” said the Indian skipper.
